I have no recollection of that.
I like to pretend that it is a million years in the future and an alien culture has to learn about the human race using only my pictures. Oh what stories they'd tell. Thank god this is floating around in tubes in the form of ones and zeros.
Its been a long couple of weeks guys. Ted Stevens, RIP.

Fast and Friendly
In this most recent post I write a piece in which I draw parallels between the path worn into our hardwood floors by our dogs excitedly scrambling around corners and my work-a-day lifestyle. Its quite moving, and beautifully written. Although it sometimes walks the tightrope between flowery prose and stream of conscious if never loses its ability to drive home the point that I am a wonderfully gifted and empathetic writer. My connection to the average human experience links me to the lowliest dregs and layabouts, while my intellect and wit makes me the toast of the town among scholars and heads of state. It will leave you breathless. It will LITERALLY blow you away.
Nah, I'm just kidding. It is about posting on a blog instead of cleaning.

the emperor has no clothes.
Fedor Emelianenko lost via triangle choke in round one to Fabricio Werdum. Has the whole world gone crazy? It must be the heat.

all work is no play
Unless you're doing a photo project that requires you to take at least one photo a day you probably wouldn't have realized that we're on the 102nd day of 2010. Not really much of a milestone, but its nice to know that even if I take care to keep track of each and every day they still seem to slip away just like they would if I wasn't maintaining a visual record of what each day holds.
And what does each day hold? Mostly work. I'm still waiting for that long period of photographs that doesn't include any of Kate and Cole at 821. Not that I don't love working with you guys, its just that my life (erg0, my photography) seems to be a revolving door of the same people wearing the same shirts. Am I different being the one behind the camera? No, I can't say that I do much more interesting things than the people I spend my time with. In fact I'd have to say most of the people I surround myself with are far more interesting than me, which is how I'd like to keep it.
I don't mean to sound melodramatic. My life is pretty fun, and stays pretty interesting. 821 is day in, day out but at least there are always a fresh supply of jokes, fake rats, body slams and intense sexual harassment (directed towards me mostly...). Taking pictures of auto parts and dog crates and whatever else is a nice break and helps me to justify myself as a "photographer" in passing conversation. Somehow I have yet to have a single picture of Jiu Jitsu, which occupies several of my nights. My lovely wife gets her picture taken every now and then, but I've found that there isn't a quicker way to kill her fun than by snapping off a few frames when she's not looking. For the most part if I'm hard up for a picture my dogs are much more willing models than she is, which is the way she'd probably prefer it.
Soon though, soon.....I'm going on tour again. 20ish days through the south, the midwest, the north east and then back home. This summer will be the 11th year in a row I've been touring in crappy punk bands. It doesn't get any less fun, but these tours have been getting harder and harder to book. I'm counting down the days until everything is booked, the wife has been kissed, and I can cram into our filthy van with 4 other equally filthy (in mind and/or body) friends for a few weeks.
You can call if vacation, only if when you go on vacation you sleep on the floor and eat out of gas stations. If not, then call it whatever you want. Just not late for dinner.
